April 2020 OHS Student of the Month

April 2, 2020

Congratulations to Ogden High School’s Student of the Month for April, Lauren Kennedy! Lauren, the youngest daughter of Jim and Julie Kennedy, and the sister of Brie, Megan, and Nathan, is a bright light for her community and school. Lauren brings dedication, passion, and vigor to everything she does, from cheering on her fellow students at events, competing at the softball and swimming state tournaments, to studying in her academic courses, serving as a community leader, and singing, dancing, and playing the horn with her fellow students.

A member of the National Honor Society, Lauren has been recognized for her contributions to her school and community. A true-born leader and president of the Student Council, Lauren enjoys the opportunity to serve and support middle and high school students. With a servant spirit, Lauren has dedicated herself to all of her activities. Lauren is an active member of St. John Catholic Church and Bulldog Builders. She recently returned home from her third Bulldog Builders mission trip to Mississippi. Lauren also enjoys the opportunity to teach and coach others. Last year, Lauren volunteered to teach kindergarten for St. John’s weekly religious education program. This year her volunteer effort was focused on creating passion in young swimmers for the Boone youth swimming program. Lauren developed this drive to support others in swimming through her lifeguarding position and swim lesson instructor role at the Boone swimming pool.

As an athlete, Lauren has been a strong addition to the athletic program at OHS. Lauren was an integral part of three relay teams (Medley relay, 200 free relay, and 400 free relay) that competed at the state swimming meet the last two school years. Balancing academics and extracurricular activities, She swam two-a-day practices while remaining focused on her other responsibilities. As an outfielder on the softball team, Lauren helped her team make it to the state softball tournament in 2019. Lauren is also on the leadership team of the OHS track team, and enjoys the opportunity to motivate and cheer on her teammates.

Lauren succeeds in the classroom, and is consistently on the honor roll. She is also an asset to musical ensembles at OHS, and has maintained membership in Mixed Choir, Chamber Choir, and Show Choir. Lauren plays the mellophone in the Marching Band and the F horn in Concert Band. A truly kind, jovial, and determined spirit, Lauren will be greatly missed when she moves on to her next challenge. After graduating, Lauren plans to attend Iowa State University to study Education/Business. Congratulations, Lauren, and good luck!
