Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

April 3, 2020

Dear Parents and Students:

With the Governor’s announcement that Iowa Schools will remain closed through April 30, 2020, we want you to know that Ogden Schools remain committed to helping students and families during these challenging times. Pending any further Governor orders, we will plan to re-open schools on May 1. Even though the Ogden CSD doors are closed, our schools’ heart is still going. While academics are very important for our students, we don’t want this to become added stress for you and your family. There is no greater time for all of us to extend care, grace and understanding towards each other. We WILL get through this together.

Based on the current Iowa Department of Education (IDOE) guidance on what districts can and can not do, our district will continue to provide PK-12th grade students Voluntary Educational Enrichment Opportunities (VEEO). This means the learning options are available but not mandatory for students to participate. Per the IDOE, this option will count as instruction and no days through April 30th will need to be made up. Next week you will hear from us again, and we will clearly outline our DOE approved plan moving forward.

Since our new plan will not begin until April 13, this week you can anticipate hearing from teachers in the way you have for the past two weeks.  Also this weekend you will receive a continual learning survey from the building your child attends. Please complete the survey by Sunday evening so we can continue to meet the needs of all students in our district. Thank you and please be in touch with teachers or administrators if you have questions.

Sincerely,

Pam Dodge
Superintendent
