January 2020 OHS Student of the Month

January 6, 2020
Abby Bryan

What better way to kick off the new year than to celebrate one of Ogden High School’s finest students, Abby Bryan, as our January Student of the Month. Whether in the classroom, on the field, or center stage, Abby has made her mark on Ogden Schools with her own refreshing blend of passion, hard work, integrity, and style. Gracefully balancing academics, extra-curriculars, work, and volunteering in the community, Abby brings her full commitment and determination to every endeavour she undertakes. Abby is the daughter of Joel and Sara Bryan, and has a younger sister, Bella.

Abby’s academic record is stellar, as she is constantly on the honor roll. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the OHS Student Council and serves as the Vice-President of the OHS FFA Chapter. Abby has played varsity soccer all four years of high school.  Last spring, she received an Honorable Mention All-Conference award.

As a gifted and dedicated musician, Abby has garnered many awards in band and chorus. While at OHS, she has participated in Mixed Choir, Chamber Choir, Show Choir, Musical, Marching Band, Concert Band, and Pep Band. She has served on the Leadership Team for Marching Band as Woodwind Captain and in Chamber Choir as Soprano Section Leader.  She has auditioned for the All-State Chorus and was selected to participate in 2017 and 2019. Having performed several solos and been a member of countless ensembles, Abby has received numerous Division 1 ratings and Outstanding Performance Awards at state music contest.

This past December, Abby organized a Meals from the Heartland event held in Ogden. Over 100 people from the surrounding area help prepare over 30,000 meals.  Meals from this event will be distributed to children’s feeding initiatives all throughout the world. On top of packaging meals, Abby and volunteers brought donations for the local food pantry.

Outside of school, Abby works at Seven Oaks Recreation Area and the Boone Pool. She is an active member of the Westside Hustlers 4H Club and currently serves as their President. Abby has won numerous awards for her dairy cows and static exhibits.  She is a member of the Ogden Community Methodist Church and in her free time, she loves being outdoors, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, swimming & hanging out with family & friends.

After graduating, Abby plans to attend Iowa State University to study Genetics and Animal Science. She is a tremendous student and a wonderful person, we can’t wait to see what her future holds! Congratulations, Abby, on a job well done!
