ITBS RESULTS

Ogden Community School District administers the Iowa Test of Basic Skills to students in 3rd through 8th grades. The following numbers represent the percentage of our students who are considered proficient in Reading Comprehension, Math Total, and the Science tests on the Iowa Test of Basic Skills.

GRADE READING MATH SCIENCE

3         84.8%         93.5%         93.4%

4         90.7%         95.3%         100.0%

5         84.6%         90.4%         86.5%

6         75.0%         78.4%         93.4%

7         84.2%         80.7%         94.7%

8         72.0%         73.7%         82.6%

Students are considered proficient if they score at the 41st percentile and above based on National Norms. Reading Comprehension, Math Total, and Science are reported out at grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 11 to the Iowa Department of Education.

The overall purpose of tests like the Iowa Test of Basic Skills is to measure student growth from year to year and to use the results to plan for individual needs. Students and teachers alike should be congratulated for giving their best effort in their performance. By giving an accurate measure of strengths and areas to be refined, the school can better plan and prepare to meet all students' instructional needs.
