Ogden High School students attend engineering day

by Christina Janssen

November 24, 2008

Students from Ogden High and other schools attended a High School Engineering Day at Iowa State University on November 13th. The day was conducted by Tau Beta Pi, the National Engineering Honor Society. The goal was for high school students to experience different types of engineering fields through hands on activities. Some of the fields discussed included civil, construction, materials and aerospace engineering. The activities included: constructing a wind turbine to provide illumination, constructing a bridge to support weight and programming Lego robots. The day also included lunch at the Union Drive Community Center where students saw what food service offers at Iowa State.
