Ogden Victory Over Boone
by Chelsea Germer and Tara Longnecker
December 11, 2009
School Spirit was obvious at the Boone County Blast as a ton of students came out to support the basketball teams. Girls started out rough, but were able to pull through and defeat the Toreadors.
During the game, people from both Boone and Ogden were encouraged to bring cans and non-perishable items for the Red Rock Food Pantry to replenish it's stock and feed the less fortunate of Boone County. The two student councils agreed to make it a competition; losing student council serves winning student council's school lunch for a day. It was very clear that Ogden brought more items and were the winners, but because our purpose was just to restock Red Rock, the sponsors decided to join forces and not determine a clear winner for the competition.
After the girls' victory, it was the boys' turn. They too started out rough in the first minutes of the game, but worked hard and eventually came out with the win. Even more people came out for this game to support their team. A huge section of Ogden students was lead in cheering and chanting. Both Boone and Ogden students participated in back-and-forth chants about the other town, all in good fun of course, and cheers led by each school's cheerleaders.
