Speech Competitions Make It to State

On January 23 the large group speech competition was held at Waukee High School. Waking up early on a foggy Saturday morning had no effect on the performances as 4 out the of 6 groups made it to state. (In order to qualify for state contest, the group must receive a rating of I.)
The six groups were:
1. "Hard Candy" (a one-act play) -- Janae Oien, Thaianna Finestead, Luther Thompson, Bronson Mayse, Brian Good, Mikayla Mayse, Muna Nussor, Josh Oren, and Audra Haglund.
2. "Relative Strangers" (ensemble) -- Audra, Lauren & Leah Haglund
3. "Catwalk Catastrophe" (group mime) -- Ally Fillmore, Katie Fillmore, and Mikayla Maves
4. Improv Group 1 -- Bronson Mayse, Vaughn Sims, Tyler Happe, and Wes Brueland
5. Improv Group 2 -- Jimmy Rubin, Marissa Elsberry, Laura and Leah Haglund
6. Improv Group 3 -- Brian Good, Cayle Suntken, Josh Oren, and Luther Thompson
GROUPS 1-4 QUALIFIED FOR STATE AND THE OTHER 2 GROUPS WERE VERY CLOSE--WE ARE SO PROUD OF ALL OF THEM!
Everyone is excited to perform again in state competition on February 6th in Ankeny.
