Ogden Philharmonic Orchestra Members visit Howe School!

Fourth graders were treated to a performance by Mrs. Jill Friend, Howe School music teacher, and her son, Nathan, a senior at OHS, on viola and cello on September 30, 2008. The boys and girls in 4th grade have recently read a story called "Yingtao's New Friend", about two boys who meet in a school orchestra and become friends. Mrs. Friend compared the various orchestra instruments' sizes and sounds, and she and Nathan played a variety of styles of music. Did you know that a violin and a fiddle are one in the same; the instrument is just played differently to match the music genre' (orchestra vs. country/bluegrass). What a special day this was for our fourth graders to be educated and entertained by such a fine pair of Ogden musicians!
